With the current pandemic, the state of the music and touring industry has dramatically changed. Where were you when everything was brought to a halt?

I played a variety show at a burlesque club called the Wiggle Room on March 11th 2020. This was the first time that I ever felt palpable fear in the air about the virus. The show went great, but that Thursday the NBA season was cancelled and countries began calling for the return of their citizens. What a crazy time! We had like 6 shows booked that were cancelled in days, and there was a good amount of momentum online and around Montreal that we had built up that fizzled out. However, my commitment to make great music has remained steadfast, and I am very fortunate compared to many people who suffered greatly.

How has that affected your plans for the coming year? Did you have a tour planned, upcoming album release?

I wrote a lot of material though and produced some demos. I applied for grants, booked recording sessions and played open mics. I saw my ambitions curtailed for a moment when Massimo left the group, but I took a lot of time for self-reflection and honing my craft. I shot three videos, implemented choreography for the first time and learned to edit music videos. I designed merch and I worked on the Instagram page! Did mention I have ADHD??

What have you been doing to fill/make the most of your new-found free time at home? How are you supporting your mental health through all of this?

Condor Matador is something that helps support my mental health a lot. It is a sandbox for a lot of artistic experimentation across video, music, dance, visual arts, fashion and marketing. I am having a blast working on this project, and I don't need to be out in the world to do it. I appreciate having the time to think to myself and iron things out before putting them into the world. I also run 50 km a week and did a web development bootcamp over the summer and fall. I have a dog named Elvis who is so much fun!

How are dealing with the Covid fifth wave? Have things locked down again in your region? Have you had to cancel gigs, tours, etc.? Are things reopening & restrictions are lifting in your region? Have you booked any new gigs, tours, etc.? What are your plans for 2022?

In February, I hooked up with Eric Alper for Public Relations to promote my new single The 90's Song. This happy jam features Montreal Symphony Orchestra Concertmaster and Juno-Award Winner Andrew Wan. I have been preparing album number two and I've decided to call it Dirty Thirty. I have been doing sessions with producer Frame at his studio in Outremont, located in an old Hell's Angels bunker. We've recorded five songs so far, and are about to start our sixth.

I've had to cancel two shows, but I'm set to play at the Wiggle Room March 2nd. It will be wonderful to perform alongside my Burlesque friends once more! I've been rehearsing like crazy. I would love to play a record release show to support Dirty Thirty in June, but Montreal is quite restrictive so I can't count my chickens before they hatch.
